Reading Recorder

Over the last week you have been working hard consolidating your skills in reading. Some have jumped many levels on Readtheory - congratulations. Please write a few lines identifying a skill that you have developed or improved this week and explain, with evidence, how this skill improvement has helped you! Skills to think about: inferencing, re-organising, predicting, skimming and scanning, re-read/read-on, evaluating, clarifying, questioning etc

    I have improved in finding synonyms and antonyms for words by finding a synonym for the word that I know then identifying the antonym. This has improve my vocabulary development.

    I have improved clarifying words without a dictionary. I have done this by re-reading, testing what words would fit in the gap and finding the root word.

    I have improved my test taking skills. This has helped me to eliminate silly mistakes and make sure that I do not lose easy points in things I know.

    I have improved clarifying words without a dictionary. I have done this by reading on and finding antonyms, synonyms,reading on and trying to understand the authors meaning.

    I have improved the percentage at which I am correct through tests. I have achieved this by remembering to re-read questions multiple times and understanding what the question is asking for.

    I have improved my note taking for reciprocal reading. instead of just highlighting text, I now highlight and clarify while taking notes to help me get a better understanding of the text I am reading.

    I have improved on my reciprocal reading. Specifically my synonyms/antonyms and note taking. I used to hardly ever note take but now I understand the text a lot more as I organise my thoughts, questions and clarifications.

    I have improved at clarifying different words without the use of a dictionary. I did this by reading the entire sentence and using the clues from the text to figure out the meaning. The use of antonyms and synonyms has also helped,

    I have improved myself in skimming and scanning. I found this skill useful in finding pieces of text tgat i needed to review

    I have worked on reading to find the meaning of words. This will help me in tests when I am unable to use a dictionary.

    I have consolidated my skill of skimming and scanning on read theory. This will help me find important information in a test scenario when I don't have much time to read the whole text
